Using Groups to Help Manage Employee Information

Using Groups to Help Manage Employee Information

One of the most powerful uses of Tātou Groups is to use alongside the Bulk Edit Employees Feature on the Employees Page. In this section you’ll find some examples of groups that can be used to manage Employee Profile information.

Pro Tip: Groups are used across the Tātou platform, and may be visible to any number of employees, so consider naming conventions carefully to keep the system tidy for users, and make sure confidential information is not exposed through a group name.

Employees can be added to multiple Groups, so before using Groups to Bulk Edit Employee Information ensure you’re familiar with the Groups your organisation uses and any possible overlaps that may affect the changes you are making.

Seasonal Employees

Seasonal employees are the backbone of many agricultural operations, and many can come and go on a regular schedule. For these employees groups based on the following information may be useful:

Crew Leader

To quickly assign a crew leader to a new or old group

Season (e.g. Summer RSE)

Because not all seasonal workers start at the same time even in the same season

Returnee vs. New Employee

Returnee’s may already have a profile created in Tātou, so these groups can help quickly update things like returnee hourly rates, employment periods, etc.

Transportation and Address

To help Pastoral Care locate relevant information, or Supervisors located groups of crew members based on their transportation group

Arrival Date and Estimated Departure Date

This will help users quickly find employees who are going to, or have already left, and mark their profiles inactive.

Permanent Staff

Many organisations will have a separate HR or Payroll system, which may or may not integrate in with Tātou. Depending on the level of detail your organisation keeps updated in Tātou, the following groups can be useful for managing profile information for permanent staff.
